Getting started
Install Audexis
- Open the Audexis download page.
- Choose the installer for your operating system and processor, following that release’s installation notes.
- Install and launch Audexis.
Add your music
On first launch, choose folders containing your music. You can add more later through File → Import Folder… or Settings → Library.
Audexis indexes files where they already live. Adding a folder is not an import into a new managed copy of your music. Keep external drives connected while using tracks stored on them.
Choose a parent folder if you want its music subfolders included. You do not need to add every album folder separately. Overlapping library roots are normalized so a child folder does not need its own root entry.
Wait for the first scan
Scanning discovers supported files and reads their metadata, artwork, and audio information. Large collections can take time. Let the scan finish before diagnosing missing albums or incomplete search results.
If nothing appears:
- Confirm that the selected folder contains supported audio files.
- Check that the folder is available and that Audexis can read it.
- Open Settings → Library and rescan the saved folders.
- Check Troubleshooting if the problem continues.
Play your first song
Open Songs, Albums, or Artists, find a track, and use its play action. The bottom playback bar shows the active song and provides playback, seeking, shuffle, repeat, lyrics, and queue controls.
Right-click a song to play it next, add it to the end of the queue, favorite it, add it to a playlist, or open Get Info.
Make the app comfortable
In Settings → Appearance, choose the theme, row density, and reduced-motion preference. Save those settings to apply them.
In Settings → Metadata, choose which regular fields appear in Track Info’s Details tab. Those selections save automatically.
