Audexis documentation
Audexis is a local-first desktop music player and metadata editor. It reads music from folders on your computer, helps you organize your collection, and can save tags, artwork, and lyrics into your audio files.
These guides describe the current app. Audexis is pre-release software: a recognized file extension does not guarantee that every codec or metadata feature is supported.
Start here
- Install Audexis and add your music.
- Learn the library views and Songs table.
- Start playback and manage the queue.
- Choose the fullscreen or mini player.
Organize your collection
- Library and folders: scanning, columns, moved files, and missing tracks.
- Search and filters: find tracks by tags, filename, folder, format, or duration.
- Playlists and favorites: build collections without moving your audio files.
Make every detail yours
- Metadata editing: Details fields, multiple values, batch edits, and saving.
- Custom fields: display titles, storage keys, text and URL fields, and table columns.
- Artwork: import, replace, reorder, and remove embedded images.
- Lyrics: plain lyrics, synchronized lyrics, timing, and online lookup.
- Metadata field reference: the field catalog and its limitations.
- Formats and compatibility: the difference between playback support and tag-writing support.
Listen your way
Rewind
Rewind shows listening time and your top artists, albums, and tracks. Learn why a recent listen and a counted play are not always the same thing.
Help and reference
What changes your files?
Playing songs, favoriting them, rearranging table columns, and creating playlists do not rewrite embedded tags. Saving metadata, artwork, or lyrics does. Choosing an online result to apply can also write to the selected files.
